Alphabetical Script Listing for 'O'

Offsite Links

Using this script, any links on a Web page to another domain will open in a new window. (We won't debate here the pros and cons of using this method.)

On Screen Keyboard

The script optionally opens a keyboard window in order to enter characters by mouse click. By clicking the "Enter" button the character string is directly passed to the opening form's input field.

OnMouseOver Image Gallery / The JavaScript Source

When the mouse moves over one of the thumbnails, the larger-sized picture area changes to the larger-sized picture that corresponds to that thumbnail. Easy to implement.

One Check

Only allow one box to be checked out of any number of boxes. Handy for quizzes, etc.

One-click Multi-engine Search

A multi-engine search box. Users put the search term in one box, select their engine and voila! No clicking search buttons or filling radio boxes, results open in same window.

Online or Offline

By checking the documents current location a script can determine if you are on or offline because the document's location will be different when online. This can be useful for an Intranet, redirecting the user to a local file if they are offline.

Only One Field

The visitor must fill in either one of two fields, their name or email address. If they click in either box the other box's value is erased. Ensures that when the form is submitted only one field contains a value. Also contains validation that makes sure both fields are not empty.

Only Popup Once

If you have a popup window which opens on your home page every time a visitor returns, it can become very annoying. Using cookies, this script can determine if the visitor has been here before, and only open a new window on their first visit to the page. The next time they come back, the script will read the cookie, identify them as a repeat visitor, and not open the window again.

Open Link

Add the option of allowing links on your page to be opened in a new window with this powerful script. A simple checkbox toggles between the current and new window. Great!

Open Links Option

This script will give the user the option to open links in either a new window or in the same window. Simple to set-up and completely unobtrusive.

Opening New Windows

When using strict doctypes the target attribute is not allowed for opening new windows. This script will accomplish that task easily and unobtrusively.

Opening Page Link

If your Web site uses an opening (splash) page, this script will make it easy for your visitors to enter the site. It turns the entire Web page into a clickable link.

Optimized Popup

Opens a new full screen browser window optimized for the visitor's browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Other). As well, the properties of new window can be customized -- such as the toolbars, scrollbars, menu bar, location bar, the status bar, and whether it is resizable or not. Great!

Option Search

Allows you to jump to any value in a drop down list. In our example, search for a value between 'a1' and 'a15'. Saves time when it comes to navigating within long pull down menus.

Order Form

An order form which utilizes checkboxes and radio buttons for making a selection. The checkbox only allows one quantity of any item to be ordered, while the radio button only allows for one item within a defined group to be ordered. Script updates the order total as the visitor makes his/her selections, also note that the order total can not be manually altered by the visitor. Works in MSIE.

Outsmart Google's Toolbar

Use this script to eliminate the yellow-colored fields in your forms caused by Google's AutoFill feature. Also provides a bit of info for your visitors.

Over-line Text Link

To get the attention of your surfers to some particular links, you may want to include some link animations. In this animation, the link over-lines itself back and forth.

Overriding IE's getElementById() / The JavaScript Source

There is a well-known bug in the Internet Explorer implementation of the getElementById() method, which, contrary to the W3C standard, allows the method to return an element even if only the element's name attribute matches the requested id. This snippet will easily correct that problem.
